Background
Wade Wilson's mother died of cancer when he was young. As a result of this, the boy would grow up rebellious and angry, much to the disappointment of his military father. When his father was finally shot and killed in a bar fight - something young Wade frantically tried to stop - the boy decided to join the military himself.
He was drummed out for being too good, and took up arms as a mercenary instead. When he got cancer himself, he searched the globe for a way to stop it, finally knocking on the door of Canada's own Weapon X project. They took him and gave him a healing factor they'd gleaned from the mutant Wolverine. Unfortunately, the healing factor didn't work - now externally cancerous as well as internally, he was thrown into the project's wastebin, to rot away under the eyes of Dr. Killebrew and his bullying assistant Ajax.
Fighting to be able to join Death, an entity he'd fallen in love with, Wade provoked Ajax and gained the admiration of the rest of the Shop's inmates in the process, who dubbed him King of the Dead Pool. Eager to kill the rebellion, Ajax made an example of Wade's friend Worm. Wade killed Worm to prevent him from suffering more - and was granted his wish.
Except, as he died, his healing factor finally kicked in, damaging his brain and rendering him entirely crazy. Seperated from Death for eternity, he took revenge on Ajax and Killebrew and declared Wade Wilson dead... he would be Deadpool instead.
Many years of mercenary jobs later, Deadpool would go on to save the world from an alien menace. However, his attempts to become a better person and stop killing seemed doomed to fail until Cable entered -- well, re-entered, as they'd been enemies for many years -- the picture. Fixing Wade's mind and befriending the mercenary, Cable was a powerful motivator for him to do something constructive with his life. Although their friendship ended badly as Cable's own control freak instincts took over during the Civil War, Deadpool has remained on the 'good' side of grey since.
Where Canon and Wade Wilson go separate ways
After his soul-destroying (platonic, really, it's platonic) divorce from Cable, Deadpool took up teaching at Fandom High.

Wade turned into the seven year old version of himself over adult weetiny weekend. He headbutted Tannim Drake in the crotch, kicked Jamie Madrox, helped wee!Darth Vader cut up his cape, and allied with Allison (wee!Tex) in a never-ending war against wee!Alianne.
He woke up following the weekend in a puppy pile with Rosette Christopher, Eiri Yuki, and Shuichi Shindou.
