The Animals

The animals (canonically called The Muses) are inanimate objects that talk only to Jaye Tyler and tell her to do things. Most often these things ultimately result in something good happening, though it may not seem like it at the time. It's unclear whether it's some kind of Joan of Arc type thing or if the poor girl's really lost it, but it doesn't matter anyway. They can really be anything, but most often she hears the wax lion she carries around in her purse, and the brass monkey bookend in her room.

If they're not listened to, they sing. Sometimes badly. Sometimes Rob Thomas.
