Species Information
The teal deer is a species of miniature deer that is found only on Fandom Island, inside the Wildlife Preserve. Shy and retiring, they are naturally fascinated by long, repetitive speeches, and will stop to listen to anyone reading a tax code or talking about their romantic disappointments with almost stunned attention. Unfortunately, this has led to them being hunted almost to extinction by game enthusiasts the world over. It is on the Fish & Wildlife Protected Species list.

Efforts to Save the Teal Deer
A brunch benefit was held by Angela Chase and Zero Hopeless-Savage to raise money for a fence and possible magical protection, to keep the teal deer inside the Wildlife Preserve. Please contact them if you are interested in making contributions or wish to learn more about their efforts.
Sightings
Jarod and M. Parker reported a teal deer sighting and retrieved photographs of the animals in April 2006, inside the Fandom Wildlife Preserve.
Meta
Teal Deer is based on the abbreviation tl;dr. It's shorthand for "Too Long; Didn't Read", a comment sometimes left on LJ posts which go on so long that the average reader gives up on reading all of it. This morphed into the Teal Deer, and its fascination with long-winded stories, late in chat one night. All perpetrators deny knowledge.
