Background
I'll let the master give it:

More specifics? He's 17, he's very pretty, he's melodramatic, he has impulse control issues like whoa, his family owned about half of Verona, and he grew up in this very violent modern world where people just happen to talk Shakespearean.
Oh, and this one time he liked this girl, and things kind of went badly.
Where Canon and Romeo go separate ways
In canon, Romeo hears (wrongly) that Juliet has died and, as you do, rushes back to the city he was banished from to kill himself next to her corpse. To this purpose, he badgers an apothecary into selling him poison.
We all know how the play ends. But FH!Romeo got lucky. That apothecary? Turns out he was poor in skills as well as money, and the poison did nothing but send its drinker into a coma.
So Romeo gets to live.1 Although he is still banished, he is hidden in Verona for a few months before the governor starts wondering what happened to him, whereupon his father ships him off to Fandom to finish high school.

Adventures
Romeo's introduction to Fandom Weirdness was the second AU Weekend, during which he thought he was con man Frank Abagnale.
After returning from spring break, Romeo was sucked into 1899 Paris as part of the weeping angels plot. Other Fandomites in that time and place were Ino Yamanaka, Andrew Wells, Jeff Murdock (II), Victor von Doom and Wade Wilson.
And, just to keep him from getting too happy after he got back, there was a gremlin bite. And pudding. About $240 worth.
He was eight during Weetiny Weekend 2008.
