Background
The Tick is a superhero based in The City. His powers include impressive superstrength (defined as being as strong as necessary for a plot), and nigh-invulnerability (although considering that he can survive reentry from orbit without so much as a spacesuit, complete invulnerability must be quite invulnerable indeed). He has also demonstrated the ability to survive in space without oxygen, the ability to hold his breath longer than a dolphin, and an impressive operatic singing voice.
He has two antennae of indeterminate purpose although they do seem to be attached to his head, regulate balance, and show his mood, much like a dog's tail.
He can also string together an extended metaphor like nobody's business.
Where Canon and The Tick go separate ways
The Tick comes from sometime after the end of the animated series. His sidekick, Arthur has married his girlfriend, Carmelita. Other than that, time has remained roughly static.
In Fandom
The Tick started off as the school's Criminal Justice teacher during Fall 05 and Spring 06. During Summer 06, he was promoted to Dean of Students and taught a workshop in Arts & Crafts. He primarily ran detentions, Friday events during the summer, and assemblies during the Fall and Spring semesters. He remained Dean of Students until Graduation 2007, when he left to return to The City.

Relationships
Rory Gilmore
While The Tick was adjusting to a "normal" life at Fandom, he chose Rory Gilmore as his sidekick (what most teachers called a TA). She served as his sidekick for the bulk of the 2005-2006 school year.
Kitty Pryde
Kitty Pryde was a good student in The Tick's class for several weeks until her death. Although he came from a world where violence was the norm, he never knew anyone who died. As such, her death affected him deeply and added a new dimension to his character.
Lockheed
Kitty's pet dragon, Lockheed chose The Tick to be his new keeper after Kitty's death. Lockheed stayed with him through the end of the 2005-2006 school year.
Little Wooden Boy
Actually a poorly constructed wooden doll, The Tick's tenuous grasp on sanity let him believe that Little Wooden Boy was a helpful friend, confidant, and crimefighter. LWB II helped Tick through Kitty's death until Lockheed destroyed it. Little Wooden Boy III was a gift to Rory after she was attacked by Angelus. Little Wooden Boy IV was made for Arts & Crafts and lives to this day.
Angel
The Tick saw Angel as a true success story. He managed to go from somebody who could kill an innocent girl to somebody who was willing to risk his life to save other innocents. He never fully understood the whole souling thing, but Angel was one of his favorite students.
Anakin Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker was another of Tick's favorite students. He introduced Tick to the Jedi, a concept that Tick found extremely interesting. Upon his return to Fandom as the teacher, Darth Vader, The Tick (due to his position as Dean) was one of the few who knew that it was actually Anakin beneath the mask. He tended to treat Vader in the same friendly manner that he treated everyone else, but he was very glad when Anakin returned to Fandom as himself once again.
