Nadia Santos, played by Mia Maestro

Background

Born in Russia, she was abducted moved to Argentina at a young age, where she has spent the majority of her life. She lived in an orphanage under the care of Sophia Vergara until the age of 10 when she ran away. She has lived on the streets of Buenos Aires for the last five years, mostly as a pickpocket and shop-lifter, before moving on to armed robbery with her then boyfriend, Cesar Martinez. She was arrested during one particularly botched job on a local convenience store, and was given three options: go to jail, join a black ops division of SIDE (Argentine Intelligence), or attend a boarding school in the United States.

She is fluent in both Spanish and English, with a few choice phrases in Russian under her belt.

Where Canon and Nadia go separate ways

Nadia's birthdate has been bumped up to eliminate a time gap between her year of origin and the year she started at FH. The timeline of events, drawn mainly from the season 4 Alias episode The Orphan has also been altered, to have her be young enough to logically attend high school.

The main point of divergence occurs after she is arrested for the robbery. In canon, she is offered two choices: jail, or SIDE (Argentine Intelligence). For Fandom purposes, she was offered three, and took the third to attend school in the United States.

Nadia also suffers from lingering affects from her time spent in the laboratory in Russia in her youth. She has developed a semi-permanent link to Milo Rambaldi and his prophesies. The result of this link is that when she is injured, ill, or otherwise in an altered state of consciousness, she is known to speak in Italian, a language she has no conscious knowledge of, utter prophesies, and have prophetic dreams.

This annoys her to no end.

Other

Nadia is developing a bit of a reputation as the Break-Up girl at Fandom, as she has developed a ritual to help those who've recently broke up feel better. The ritual involves going up to the roof and enjoying Eddie's Special Brownies, talking about non-emo things, and often dancing the Schottishe. Thus far, she's provided this service to Veronica Mars, Walter Dornez, Blair Sandburg, Samuel Anders, and Veruca Cally.

Her favored weapons are a meat tenderizing mallet and a homemade flame thrower. She also carries around a modified leatherman tool wherever she goes, which has "normal tool things, plus a hammer, drill, corkscrew, cocktail fork, butter knife, toothpick, tweezers, blowtorch and a toothbrush!" 1

Adventures

In an attempt to pay Veronica Mars back for all the help she provided her, Nadia had a morality robot created to follow Belthazor around, spewing sage advice and glitter.

She was also involved in Shop class the day that the computer system, HAL, was reprogrammed to attack the teacher. This was the first occasion in which her dreams started to reflect her status as "the Passenger".

After a particularly interesting day in Foreign Lit, Nadia found herself stuck thinking and speaking in haiku, and passed it along to others she ran into.

In one of her most harrowing adventures to date, Nadia found herself involved in an assassination plot during the island's villain convention, after which she was abducted by her father, Arvin Sloane, and injected with an altered version of the Rambaldi Elixir in order to help save her future, zombied self. One of the results of this was her attempted suicide, in order, she thought, to save her friends from having to deal with her becoming a monster. This event also further spurred her prophetic dreams, causing them to branch out from her own future into the future and past of her fellow students.

Nadia, along with most of the other students, was regressed in age the weekend before finals in the spring of 2006.

She was also involved when two of her friends became possessed shortly after the end of the spring semester.
