Lucas Wolenczak

Background

Lucas was born on December 23, 2002 in Buffalo, New York. His parents are divorced. His father, Doctor Christopher Wolenczak, is a world-renowned scientist. Lucas is a genius and very advanced for his age. By his early teens, he had already graduated from Stanford University magna-cum-laude with a degree in Applied Principles of Artificial Intelligence with an unbroken GPA record as of 2018. Lucas is a skilled scientist and logical thinker. He likes to invent, to put his ideas into practice. He's also one of the most skilled hackers in his world and goes by 'Frankenstein' on the InterNex.

When his parents split, Lucas' father arranged for Lucas to serve as a civilian scientist aboard SeaQuest DSV (Deep Sea Vehicle). Lucas spent his time on SeaQuest inventing the vocorder, a device that translated between Dolphin and English. The program wasn't complete, but he managed to get the ship's dolphin, Darwin, to speak 125 words of English. Later that year, he worked with Lieutenant Commander Katherine Hitchcock to build a single person submarine called The Stinger.

At the end of that year, SeaQuest was destroyed in a last ditch attempt by its captain, Nathan Bridger, to prevent a global catastrophe caused by Lucas' father.

Lucas had a crush on Katherine Hitchcock and considered Lieutenant Benjamin Krieg to be a surrogate older brother, Doctor Westphalen to be a mother figure and Captain Bridger more of a father than his own father ever was. Darwin the dolphin was his closest friend. Lucas is still occasionally in contact with some of his former crewmates.

Where Canon and Character go separate ways

Lucas comes from the end of Season 1. In canon, Lucas worked with Captain Nathan Bridger to build SeaQuest-II. In this case, however, Bridger sent Lucas to Fandom High to keep him out of trouble and to push him to spend some time with people his own age since he never had a conventional childhood. Even though Lucas has qualifications far beyond high school, he's under instructions from Bridger to learn how to socialize and be a kid for a while.

In Fandom

Living Arrangements

Lucas moved into Room 313 upon his arrival in Fandom. The room was a double, shared with Greg Sanders, various pieces of scientific equipment and some microscopic organisms that Greg insisted on naming and keeping as pets. Greg left at the end of the semester. Lucas moved into Room 333 with Zack Addy at the beginning of Summer 2007.

Relationships

Lucas was slow to make friends. He knew his roommate, Greg Sanders and Greg's girlfriend Isabel Evans. He got to know Katara one night in a common room and asked her to the Valentine's Day dance 2007. Since his time travelling adventure, he's become somewhat friends with Valentine, Balthier, Demyx, Tabitha-Ruth Wexler, Sokka, Irulan Corrino, Dick Casablancas, Will Vandom, Zack Addy and Rikku.

Adventures

Shadows Plot

In early February 2007, Lucas' roommate Greg Sanders was attacked by a shadow creature released by Cameron Mitchell and Molly Hayes from a cave at Serenity Cove. The creatures attacked several people, leading to the victims starting to lose tangibility. Lucas followed Greg along to the library to help research the history of Fandom in an effort to defeat the creatures.

Time's Arrow

Lucas found a rift in time and, after some investigation, began to experiment with it. He and Katara went through and were trapped in Fandom circa 1816. Mayor at the time, Snidley Whiplash, tied Katara and Lucas to train tracks, but were rescued by a much older version of Fandom's Jane Canary. The group of people who were with Lucas and Katara at the time of the experiment did some research and followed them through, intending on rescuing them. That group consisted of Rikku, Sokka, Irulan Corrino, Dick Casablancas, Zack Addy, Demyx, Valentine, Balthier, Greg Sanders, Isabel Evans, Tabitha-Ruth Wexler and Will Vandom. The group arrived just in time to assist the locals, Lucas and Katara in fending off an invasion of samurai fishmen who tried to destroy the town. The locals encountered included Gabriel Van Helsing, Fitzwilliam Darcy, a much older version of Fandom's own Jane Canary, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Rebecca Fogg, Sara Crewe, Tom Sawyer, Elly Kedward (the Blair Witch) and the Man With No Name (aka Blondie). After the defeat of the samurai fishmen, they returned to Fandom and the rift closed behind them.

Leaving Fandom

Lucas returned home at the end of Summer 2007 to assist in the final touches on the construction of the second SeaQuest.
