Background
Spoiled rich kid. A distinct tendency to get in trouble, and getting kicked out of boarding schools. Was given the option of Fandom High or Military school by his father.
As no information about Jake's childhood/teens is given in the comics, this is what we in the business call "totally made up". However, the fact that he goes sailing with his father, that his father runs Infonet International courier service and is filthy rich, is canon.
The coffee? Is made up.
The messiness? Canon, at least if you look at the drawings of Jake's flat.
The whining? Totally canon.
The bisexuality? ...Well. Hard to say, since the series ended with Remy kissing him.
The shapeshifting? Very canon.
Where Canon and Jake go separate ways
Jake has been taken out before his canon appearance in Gambit.

Living Arrangements
Lived in the Echolls Residence with Logan Echolls and Barbossa until it was smashed by snow monsters. Offically then moved to the dorms with Logan, unofficially moved in with Alex Krycek in Room 230. After the break up, he moved into Room 423.

Been dating Alex Krycek since... a looong time (Oct. 12 2005). They broke up Feb. 19 2007. Got together again after Jake's kidnapping in April 2007. Friends with Chloe Sullivan. Shares coffee obsession with Rory Gilmore. Quite fond of painting M. Parker half-naked. Had a, uh, 'friendly animosity' thing going with Logan Echolls which resulted in the Great Post-It War of 2005. He's bonded with Evelyn Carnahan over a shared love of pulp fiction, and is developing a friendship with Annette Hargrove. He's also friends with Cindy Mackenzie who let him crash at her place while he waited for his room transfer after the break up.. Jake really likes sketching people.
Own World
Karna: courier, who's a mutant who look like a unicorn-person with a bloody big horn in her forehead. Besides from the fact that she can gore people to death by nodding, she's very sweet and kind.
Matrix: courier, who's has the ability to connect to computer networks through crystal balls and store information in said balls.
Marishka: courier, who's human. She's from a Eastern-European country and has a hard-core spystyle thing going for her. She's also petite and blonde.
Lau: One of Infonet's couriers. Can't stand Jake and the feeling is mutual. Lau delivers phonezappers to Jake Lau delivers a gift to Rory
Jacob Gavin sr: Dad and boss of International Infonet Inc, a courier service for the rich and powerful. Loves Jake, has not so warm feelings for Krycek.

Exploring the Haunted House
Met Spider Jerusalem, Alex Krycek, Phoebe Halliwell and St. John Allerdyce (latter later eaten by the locker or something). Developed a very firm aversion to the Mansion, due to finding flesh-eating plants, scorpion pits and hallways that suddenly turned into other hallways. link to the story
Zombie Weekend
Made his way from the Echolls' house to the school with Krycek, and picked up a bunch of people on the way. Ended up sitting on the weapons locker watching the Halliwells fight zombies. Went with Krycek on a trip back home to restock Logan's alcohol supply.
Girl
Jake was stuck in girlshape from 28 Sept 2005, until 8 Oct 2005. Between those dates, he freaked out a lot.
Homecoming
Went as a girl with Alec Krycek. Went home with Krycek after wards and turned back into a guy during the night.

Brought Rory Gilmore to the clinic with Alex Krycek.
X-File
Jake and Krycek head off to Krycek-Land, where they find nice aliens and badbad aliens.
Christmas Break
Went to Metropolis with Chloe and Krycek. Had lots of fun.
The Adventures Of MiniJake
Jake runs into a Gremlin and gets his hand chopped off. The hand aka MiniJake then met Vladdie and Rory, Anders, Jaye and Logan and Sam, The Tick and Lockheed before finally coming home and getting reabsorbed.
Zomg Isabel is an Alien!
Jake got a strange reading on his G-reader. He hired V to look into it. Once the truth is out, Isabel and Jake have a talk.
Villain Convention
Jake got talked into pretending to be Nadia and got shot inna head. Again. And then Krycek yelled at him.
Prom
Went as a girl again.
Weetiny Weekend
Woke up Was taught how to count by Aeryn, argued with Rory, painted with Chloe and was given lots of 'offee by Krycek. Also freaked out his dad who called to see how he was doing. More WeeTiny Time

Graduation
Jake met Krycek's Guardian, got his Diploma and accidentally killed a lot of Martians.

Currently living in Germany with Krycek, doing courier work for Infonet.
