Course Description

An historical survey of the relations between political systems -- both Terran and Extraterrestrial -- and an examination of the main conceptual approaches that influence the way policymakers order their relations with foreign systems. Will examine a variety of systems, including the Colonial Quorum of Twelve, the Manticoran constitutional monarchy, and the international system on 20th century Earth. Conflicts such as the first Cylon War (Colonial), the Haven-Manticoran war (Manticore), and World War I (Earth) will be discussed in context of these systems. Students will, by the end of term, have an opportunity to role play as members of one (or all) of these systems, reacting to political crises.
