Daisy Adair, played by Laura Harris

Background

Daisy was pretty much your average, young, hopeful actress with a slightly nymphomaniacal interest in men (especially famous ones) and a good dose of looks and talent until she died of asphyxiation on the set of "Gone with the Wind". That's when things got a little bit . . . unusual.

You see, there are these people about in the world, who's job it is to take the souls of those about to die and spare them the suffering of death before sending the souls along to . . . whatever comes next. It's not an easy job, and it's one with few rewards. Eventually, these "grim reapers" as they're called, get burned out, and need to reach their own "whatever". When this happens, the reaper retires, and whatever soul they reaped last takes their place.

The person who reaped Daisy retired, and Daisy joined the ranks of the undead.

She spent most of her reaper career in New York, though little is known about her time there. She was transferred to the west coast to work under a man named Rube in the "death by outside forces" (ie. accidents, murders, suicides) after one of his reapers defected. She moved in with a young reaper named George Lass, won the heart of another reaper named Mason, converted to Catholicism, possibly un-converted, and generally had an interesting time of things from there on out.

Where Canon and Daisy go separate ways

As Dead Like Me finished its second season, Daisy was still on the west coast, reaping right along. Then, one morning at Der Wafflehouse, she was handed something a bit unusual. A notice of transfer and a one way plane ticket to Washington, DC, informing her to report to someone named Z. Washburn.

Whether this transfer is a reward for services well rendered, or a punishment for a certain incident that we will not go into here, Daisy doesn't know.

Other

For some time during the first season, it was hinted that George was the only reaper in her group who could see the gravelings that caused the accidents around her. In season two, this was somewhat refuted. In special cases at the very least, Daisy is capable of seeing the gremlin-like creatures.

She fears them. Other than fire and being alone, they are perhaps her greatest fear.
