Background

Canon History: Bel is only half-demon. Bel's demon mother, Elizabeth Turner, killed his human father, Benjamin Turner, a California statesman, when Bel was three years old. Benjamin appeared to be trying to take Bel away from Elizabeth; however, she snatched him back. Benjamin's soul ended up in the hands of the Triad, and later Raynor. We know Bel was a member of the Brotherhood of the Thorn, an elite group of demons that served the Source of All Evil. We know he killed lots of people. Unlike other demons, he has a soul and bleeds red.

Embellished History: Bel's mother, whom I've given the demon name of Elishevara, was assigned to seduce and manipulate a human congressman -- Benjamin Turner. She lived with him for several years as his wife and was shocked to find herself with child. Such a thing should not have been possible without magical intervention, but in January of 1985, a son was born, fortunately for her in human form. Benjamin gave the boy his middle name, Coleridge, but Elizabeth named him Belthazor. In 1988, Elizabeth's mission was declared finished, and she murdered Benjamin Turner. She would have killed her child as well, but the Source of All Evil declared him "special" and ordered Elizabeth to return to the Underworld with him. Disgusted by her half-breed son, Elizabeth gladly handed him over to Raynor, the leader of the Brotherhood of the Thorn, the Source's inner council, for training.

Bel was raised by Raynor with several other young demons the Source had selected. He was tormented mercilessly by the other demons, who taunted him for his human blood. They would regularly abuse him whenever Raynor's back was turned. Bel learned to hate his human half.

As a member of the Brotherhood, Bel was trained in how to use his powers, martial arts, and magical knowledge. He made his first kill at the age of 10 when several witches were captured and brought before the Source. The young demons of the Brotherhood were ordered to kill them so that they would develop a taste for killing. Belthazor was the only one who hesitated, and that earned him a severe punishment. After that, he strove to banish his human feelings, telling himself it made him weak. He worked twice as hard to prove himself to Raynor and the Source, learning to be a cold-blooded killer and wracking up an impressive amount of kills.

Recently, the Seer, a visionary who served the Source, saw the rise of the Charmed Ones, three powerful witches who would oppose the Source. Their power, the Seer said, would be difficult to overcome, and subtlety would be required. So in preparation, the Source ordered that Belthazor be sent to Fandom High to get back in touch with his human side so that he might be able to use it to his advantage and get close to the Charmed Ones when they were finally found.

Canon Belthazor was born in 1885; 100 years were shaved off his age to make him fit in better at Fandom High.

Living Arrangements

Belthazor started out living in room 408 with roommate Lindsey McDonald. When his relationship with Phoebe Halliwell started to become more serious, they moved into a suite down the hall. Eventually they moved to the South Attic for more privacy and space, then they returned to suite 518/520 to be closer to their friends.
