Name: Angelus (notsouledyet which became notstakedyet) |
Background
One of the most sadistic creatures ever to unlive, Angelus rose to infamy as a vampire who not only killed humans but who enjoyed doing it. His favorite hobbies are elaborate schemes of torture and obsessing over nuns. He finds it even better when he can combine the two. (See also: Drusilla)
A monster of pure evil with "no humanity in him," Angelus became known as the Scourge of Europe and might've gone on to add other continents to the name if not for a bad run in with some gypsies who cursed him with a soul. The soul gave him the ability to feel the pain that he had inflicted upon others, which in turn gave him the capacity to be good.
He did not become good, however, until nearly a century later when he saw a young vampire Slayer coming into her own. Inspired by her struggle - and not a little by her beauty - Angelus, now known as Angel, decided to try to fight the good fight.
The only problem was that the curse came with a catch. If Angel ever experienced a moment of true and perfect happiness, he'd lose the soul and become Angelus again.
Too bad he found that out after he slept with that Slayer.
Stupid gypsies.
Where Canon and Character go separate ways
The Powers That Be, in their infinite stupidity wisdom, yanked Angel out of Sunnydale sometime before the events of "The Prom", pulled his soul out of him, and dumped him into Fandom High. We do not know why they did this. Perhaps they were tired of watching all the brooding and missed the days of the pretty leather pants. Maybe they were trying to make a ham sandwich and really, really screwed the directions up.
These are the mysteries for the ages.

Angelus was forced to live in 406 with Xander Harris thanks to Sarah Connor. Angelus accepted the arrangement when he discovered the room was close to Buffy Summers.

Adventures
Angelus Meets Fandom
Not long after coming to Fandom, Angelus sought out his own kind by recruiting members for the Junior Achievers Club. This resulted in his first meeting with Logan Echolls but, upon finding out that Logan was against hurting puppies, dismissed Logan as not worth his time. (Logan, in turn, dismissed Angelus as being a Republican.)
A violent run-in with Buffy Summers resulted in Sarah Connor giving Angelus dire threats if he got into trouble like that again. Angelus then realized that he'd have to make his fun at Fandom a little more subtle.
Angelus then made it a point to appear to be the best, kindest, most innocent student that anyone had ever met. Having been punished by the rules of the school, Angelus then memorized them and made sure that nothing he ever did came close to breaking the letter of the law. This did not stop him from amusing himself with the torture of others, it just meant he got more creative about it.
One of Angelus's favorite games became psychological torment. Knowing that some of the heroes within Fandom suspected him, he had the Junior Achievers organize a bake sale where, unbeknownst to the rest of Fandom, the evil surprise within the baked goods was that there was no evil suprise. (Except for Veronica Mars's Snickerdoodles, which everyone knows are made of people.) Knowing that he was being watched, Angelus got his hands on a locker that he used as a hiding spot, just so those watching him could go nuts wondering what secrets he was keeping and where. (To date, it's never been opened.)
The elections for Student Council were a favorite time of his. When M. Parker showed an attack ad that revealed Belthazor was a demon, Angelus leapt upon it as an opportunity to create paranoia amongst the student body about prejudice against "non-humans." He then encouraged the belief in this supposed prejudice because it created a smokescreen with many uses. It allowed Angelus to paint himself as the poor victim of anti-vampire stereotypes, and it allowed students and faculty to fight and bicker over matters that didn't concern Angelus in the slightest (such as the weapons ban which didn't ban anything that killed vampires).
Zombie Weekend
Angelus was on a date with Lisa Cuddy when zombies attacked Fandom. This put Angelus in the annoying position of having to act like a hero or else break his cover with Lisa. The upside to the evening was a run-in with Logan Echolls. Angelus and Logan fought side by side and re-evaluated each other as possible companions.
The next day Angelus made the mistake of drinking blood provided by the Yearbook club. As with all the food on the table, the blood made Angelus believe he was his worst enemy. In Angelus's case, that meant Angel.
Angelus then leapt into the fray to defend the school. It was here that he took notice of John Crichton and Aeryn Sun.
After the zombies were defeated, Angelus ran into Faith Lehane, who at the time believed she was Buffy. The two of them shared a frought, melodramatic, overdone moment of Angel and Buffyness. Unfortunately they did it in a common room, and the moment was recorded.
